Supplemental Documents: Where to Find Them and How to Use Them
With every editing order, the author has the opportunity to upload a supplemental document such as a rubric, a prompt, an assignment sheet, or an extended note providing more context for the assignment.
An orange "Download" button will appear on the doc details modal if the author included a supplemental document with the order. It's a good idea to check for a supplemental document each time you claim a paper to edit. Sometimes the author's note will refer to the attachment -- but not always -- so it's helpful to double-check.
Note that you do not need to edit the attachment or "grade" a student's essay based on a rubric, nor do you need to spend hours reading through supplemental materials. Some users will think you need all the context and background information to edit a document, which they may include here. Keep in mind, though, that most of the time you don't -- you're a professional after all!
That said, it is a good idea to take a couple minutes to familiarize yourself with the supplemental info and purpose of the document, especially if the note asks whether their essay addresses the prompt, if something in the rubric is missing, etc. This will help you tailor your editing and feedback to the user's needs (and/or the instructor's expectations), likely resulting in a happier author who will come back to Kibin again!
