User Messaging Example Questions
In case you’re unsure of how to approach sending a message to a user, check out the following example questions for some of the more common scenarios. You can copy and paste these into the message box, tweak them to fit your specific question, or just use them as a starting point.
Remember, you don’t have to write a novel or personalized letter in the message box. The user gets the context of the question through the email template (shown in Messaging a Client: How it Works), so you can be direct and to the point when asking a question.
- Verifying style guide requirements
- Hi there, Your document notes show that this paper should be using APA format, but your citations seem to follow MLA. Could you verify which style guide you’re supposed to follow? Thanks!
- Hello, Harvard style guide can have different versions depending on your university. Which version should this document follow? Thank you.
- The document notes did not have a style guide selected, but it looks like you have included citations. Could you let me know which style guide you’re following?
- Verifying which version of English to use in the edit
- Hi there, You’ve selected American English for this edit, but it looks like your writing conventions are in UK English. Should this document follow UK or American English? Thank you!
- Hi Author, I’ve noticed that in the past, you usually select Australian English, but this document doesn’t have a type of English selected. Should I follow Australian English conventions in this edit as well? Thank you.
- Formatting or word/character count questions
- Hello, Your note says that your essay should be 1,500 words. Do you need content to be cut from the essay to reach the word count, or is that simply a minimum requirement? Thanks!
- Hi Author, Does the 1,000 character maximum for your admissions essay include the spaces between words? Thanks!
- I noticed that you selected “other” for your style guide choice in your document notes. I’ll definitely make sure that your footnotes and citations are consistently formatted, but I was wondering if you had any specific formatting requirements for me to follow? Thank you.
- General inquiries about supplemental documents
- Hi, Your note asks me to check the paper against a rubric, but I'm afraid that file was not attached to the order. Could you attach the rubric to your response? Thank you!
- It seems that you’ve included a duplicate copy of your paper as the supplemental document. Is it possible you meant to attach an assignment sheet or rubric instead? If so, please attach it to your response. Thank you!
Remember that the CHC or Admin on duty will receive the customer’s response first. If there’s any confusion from the author, we will be able to clarify and/or get you the correct answer to your question.
