What happens if I miss a Direct Request?

If you snooze, you lose (mostly). You have only a limited amount of time to respond to your direct editing request. If you miss your window of opportunity, the document will be released into Wild West, er, I mean, the queue and will likely be snatched up by another editor.

That said, the author can choose to cancel a direct request order if you're not available. If the order does get cancelled because the request was missed, you may see another DR for the same document at a later time. We do ask users to wait 12 hours before resubmitting a cancelled Direct Request to ensure that they don't bombard you with requests when you're unavailable.

We offer three methods of notification for direct requests (dashboard/text/email). As long as you aren’t sound asleep when your request comes in, you should be able to snag it.
